Position Description

Kachemak Medical Group is seeking an experienced Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. We are a fast-paced primary care practice located in Homer. We provide full scope of family medicine needs with the exception of prenatal care. We are committed to providing quality and affordable healthcare in Homer and the Kenai Peninsula, with courtesy and attention to our patients’ individual needs.

Description:

· Provides patient care in outpatient clinic setting.

· Performs assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of minor illnesses and preventative care in adults and pediatric patients.

· Provides management of chronic health problems including diabetes, hypertension, cardiac conditions, chronic lung disease, etc.

· Provides primary care for trauma patients, including suturing and casting, and emergency care, including starting IVS and establishing adequate airways.

· Orders, schedules and/or performs laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures. Communicates necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled procedures to patients.

· Performs health maintenance examinations.

· Educates patients on health habits, behavior management, need for follow-up assessments and treatments, at home medical care, medication and other issues related to medical or health problems.

· In collaboration with physician, arranges for consultations with or referrals to other medical professional or community services.

· Works with physician to formulate plan for professional development. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.

· Provides guidance to assigned professional and support staff.

· Collaborates with other team members to share and establish best practice for clinic.

· Completes patient and related documentation in accordance company standards and protocols and in compliance with policies.

· Ensures timely and effective follow-up to coordinate care on behalf of patients.

Required Qualifications:

· Licensed in Alaska as a Board-Certified Physician’s Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner.

· Two years’ experience as a Mid-Level Practitioner in primary care settings preferred.

· BCLS certification

· Current DEA certification

· Active Alaska license required prior to beginning employment.

Work Schedule

· Monday – Sunday, 40 hours per week with either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts. No call requirements.
