Magic yarn (1.4 MB)

At our annual conference every year ANPA selects a charitable organization to support.

This year we have chosen Magic Yarn. This local nonprofit 100% volunteer organization creates creative and fun wigs out of yarn for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatment.

Chemotherapy treatments often leave young scalps too sensitive for traditional wigs. These yarn wigs are soft, giggle-inducing, and inspired by beloved Disney characters!

Magic Yarn volunteers crochet cozy yarn into beanies and then transform them with love into long, flowing princess and pirate hair.

There are many ways to get involved, from donating yarn, funds, or even crocheting.

Magic Yarn will have a booth available at the ANPA conference next week September 28 and 29 at the Hotel Captain Cook.

If you would like to donate yarn there are two types they need.

Type 1. Red Heart Yarn or Caron (or similar yarn) – Worsted Weight

Colors: White, Sparkly White, Red, Sparkly Red, Light Yellow, Black, Brown, and Reddish-brown

1 skein creates and entire head of “hair” for any of the princess styles!

Type 2. Red Heart Yarn With Love or another soft yarn – Worsted weight

Colors: Dark Purple, Royal Blue, Maroon, Red, White, Black, Light Yellow, Aqua, and Light Blue

1 skein creates 2-3 beanies.

*These colors are approximates. Feel free to donate similar shades.

if you would like to hear more about their story, see the completed wigs, have any questions, and or would like to get involved click Here to visit their website. Otherwise we will see you at the Conference!
