Nominations Open for ANPA Executive Board Positions!

Posted over 4 years ago by Jill Jasinski

Hello! My name is Jill Jasinski. I am the President of the Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association (ANPA). I am excited to announce that the ANPA is taking nominations for Secretary and President-Elect Executive Board positions! The Secretary position is open to NP students as well. Secretary is a 2-year term and President-Elect is a 3-year term. Being a nonprofit board member can help your career and personal development in many ways:

  1. Raise your profile in your organization and profession. By being on a board, you not only expanded your network, but will also pick up new skills, ideas, and opportunities for your full-time work.
  2. Strengthen project and team management skills. If you join a board, chances are you’ll join a committee  (or a few) which means you’ll have to learn quickly how to manage projects and teams in order to help move the organization forward.
  3. Become a better coach. While being a board member can certainly help you grow your network, the real impact and change come when you do some hands-on work, specifically by helping others reach important goals.
  4. Expand your network. A responsibility of being on a board is raising awareness and funds for the organization. As a result, you will have the opportunity to connect with supporters from a variety of places!

The Secretary shall: 1. Record minutes of the General Membership meeting and e-publish copies to the Members-only area on the ANPA website in a timely manner for Executive Committee and Membership review and reference. 2. Maintain a record of ANPA correspondence. 3. Perform such other duties as assigned by the President. 4. Serve with the Treasurer on behalf of the Executive Committee as the contact for Membership.

The President-Elect shall: 1. Coordinate arrangements and program components of the annual Conference. 2. Perform the duties of the President in his/her absence or inability to serve. 3. Perform such duties as may be delegated by the President. 4. Assume office of Presidency in subsequent term. 5. Serve on behalf of the Executive Committee as the contact for the Education committee.

Nominees must be members of ANPA. Please submit nominations to assistantanpa@gmail.com

Nominations are due October 20th at midnight. The election will be in November. Also, our next General Membership Meeting will be on Wednesday, October 30th 6:15pm at the BP Center in Anchorage. We would love to have you attend the meeting and see what we are doing in the ANPA. Thank you!

Respectfully-

Jill Jasinski, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
